3 films on gender bias at Gaiety

SHIMLA: A local Himalayan velocity group is screening three documentary films highlighting gender discrimination issues at Gaiety Theatre tomorrow under its gender awareness.

A local Himalayan velocity group is screening three documentary films highlighting gender discrimination issues at Gaiety Theatre tomorrow under its gender awareness.

According to the group director, women are facing challenges of gender discrimination at their workplaces. These three films will highlight the issues to bring about awareness in the society. First film “A Struggle against Gender Stereotypes” is a 22-minute documentary film produced and directed by Ajay Chintis. This film is about the struggle of a women lawyer Payal who left her job due to gender discrimination at her workplace and started her own law firm which won her the IDEX awards for the top three startups of 2013.

The second documentary film will be on the young entrepreneur who was born and brought up in Shimla.

“The Untold Story: Arvind Vohra” is also a 22-minute documentary film directed and produced by Ajay Chintis.

Studied in St Edvard School, Shimla, MD and CEO of one of the India’s fastest growing smart phone brands, Gionee India, Arvind R Vohra is path-breaker and game changer and inspiration for many youngsters.

No Woman’s land will be the third documentary to be screened. This film is directed by Dr Devkanya Thakur with the duration of 40 minutes.

This film is based on the struggle of tribal women of Himachal Pradesh for their property rights.

This film has already won many awards in national and international film festivals.
