Hemant, Kailash lift Fateh Pal Cup

Hemant Kumar and Kailash Shahi won the Fateh Pal Cup for best athletes in the U-14 boys category, while Saranya Loona and Harish Sinam were awarded the Bala and Kalinga Cups for best athletes in the girls and boys categories on the second day of the Founder’s Day celebrations at Lawrence School, Sanawar, today.

Siwalik House (girls) was the proud winner of the March Past Cup. The PD, BD and GD Cups were bagged by Himalaya House, Himalaya House and Vindhya House. Himalaya House won the coveted overall trophy.

Gurbir Singh Sandhu (1966 batch), Olympian and Arjuna awardee was the chief guest.

An English play titled “The Night of January 16”, written by Ayn Rand and directed by Zubin Mehta, was showcased later in the day. The play revolves around a murder trial and places the audience in the role of jury who are left to decide whether it was a suicide or a murder.

Various items like music, dance, mass PT, gymnastics, high-horse and bugle band performed in the military traditions of the school were the other highlights of the day. The show culminated with a colourful extravaganza of dances depicting different nuances of cultural art. Haryanvi folk dance performed by 170 boys and girls was a treat to watch.
