Shimla, May 9

Shimla and its surrounding areas were lashed by a thunderstorm and squall this evening, disrupting normal life and causing a sharp fall in mercury. The squall reduced visibility, affecting the vehicular movement.

The storm blew off roofs of some kutcha houses and uprooted trees. Shimla received mild rain while Manali and Bhuntar received 3.6 mm and 2 mm rain.

The Met office has predicted rain/thundershowers in the mid hills and rain/snow in the higher hills at isolated places over the next five days from tomorrow.
