Deputy Commissioner Vikas Labroo said that the polio immunisation campaign for children up to five years of age living in slums, construction workers’ colonies and those belonging to nomadic population would be organised by the Health Department from September 25 to 27 .
He was presiding over a meeting of the district Health Department officials here today. He said according to a survey conducted, 5,278 children had been identified for immunisation. He said oral vaccines would be given to the children at their houses or at their parents’ work places, if the children were with parents.
Labroo said as a part of the drive against HIV and AIDS, department workers would organise awareness campaigns at Gram Sabha meeting on October 2 in all 234 panchayats of the district.
He said the HP state AIDS Control Society had been requested to send an Integrated Counselling and Testing unit for HIV in the district.
The DC said the Una district hospital is working towards achieving the desired standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control facilities under ‘Kayakalp’, a national programme.
