With the commercial declaration of all four units of 800 mw Kol Dam on Saturday, the state started getting 12 per cent of free power.

The Kol Dam project on the border of Mandi and Bilaspur on the Sutlej was of utmost importance for the NTPC.

It took more than 15 years to start this project and according to officials of the Kol Dam, the delay was due to geological reasons.

As per agreement between the HP Government and NTPC, despite 12 per cent free power, the government would get additional 15 per cent power at bus bar tariff and further 2.75 per cent from grid allocation.

Experts from the HPSEB said the government would get at least Rs 1.5 crore daily from the 800 mw Kol Dam.
