Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, president of the HPCC, on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led NDA government and blamed it for cheating the people of the state.

He was speaking at a “Betrayal Day” rally organised by the Congress at the district headquarters.

Mukesh Agnihotri, leader of the Congress Legislative Party, Satpal Singh Raizada, Una MLA, former MLAs Kuldip Kumar and Rakesh Kalia, besides district party president Varinder Dharmani and Kutlehar Congress leader Vivek Sharma accompanied Sukhu.

They marched from the bus stand chowk to the Mini-Secretariat and raised slogans against the BJP government. Sukhu said the Prime Minister had betrayed the countrymen as not a single promise made by him was fulfilled.

He questioned the Prime Minister as to what steps had been initiated to stop inflation and corruption and why the Swaminathan Commission was not implemented.

CLP leader Mukesh Agnihotri said the Prime Minister’s promise of “Acche Din” had failed. The youths had been cheated in the name of employment.

The Bullet train project was still a dream, while the smart city projects for Shimla and Dharamsala were yet to take off.

He said Congress president Rahul Gandhi had suggested the inclusion of petrol and diesel in the ambit of GST, but the Modi government refused to concede.

Later, the Congress leaders led by Sukhu and Agnihotri submitted a memorandum addressing the President to Kritika Kulhari, Additional Deputy Commissioner.
