National spokesperson of the BJP Shahnawaz Hussain said today that the Congress was a “sinking ship whose leaders were deserting it and this itself would ensure its downfall”.
Addressing a gathering during a programme by its minority cell at Mishrwala in the Nahan constituency today, he said he wanted to strengthen the bond between the minority community and BJP MLA Dr Rajiv Bindal. Hopeful of the BJP forming the next government in the state, he claimed that the Congress would be uprooted in the poll.
Attacking the Congress government, he alleged that it was neck-deep in corruption, claiming that the Congress always misled the Muslim community by creating a scare about the BJP, but times had changed now. He asked people to “rethink on their electoral choice as the Congress was being deserted by its own ministers”.
He alleged that the Congress was trying to create fissures in the Muslim community for their electoral gains. He urged people to vote for Bindal who would be entrusted a key responsibility.
Bindal alleged that the Congress government always discriminated against Nahan and Sirmaur districts and the area, therefore, lacked road, water, power, health and educational facilities. The minorities were always used as a vote bank by the Congress which was forgotten soon after the polls, he claimed.
“The discriminatory policies of the Congress have led to the lack of basic facilities in areas where the minorities resided be it Trilokpur, Mishrwala or Kala Amb,” he added. He assured the people of undertaking the allround development of the area if voted to power.
Others present included district BJP president Sukhram Chawdhary and state Minority Morcha chief Rajbali.
