The BJP today claimed that several dissident Congress MLAs were in touch with it and the party would chalk out its strategy during the legislature party meeting to be held here on October 5.

Addressing a press conference, sitting MLA and state BJP general secretary Randhir Sharma said considering the serious allegations faced by him, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh should have resigned on moral grounds instead of using official machinery to save his chair.

“It is high time the Chief Minister stops blaming Arun Jaitley and Anurag Thakur for his woes as he is himself to blame for his situation,” said Sharma. The MLA claimed that several Congress MLAs who were unhappy with the Chief Minister were in touch with BJP leaders.

“It is after the BJP legislature party meeting here on October 5 that we will decide the future course of action and submit a memorandum to the governor against the Congress regime,” he said He refused to divulge the number of Congress MLAs who were in touch with the BJP.

He accused Virbhadra Singh of misusing official machinery to save his chair. “The entire government has come to a standstill as all ministers, MLAs and officials have been camping in Delhi to save Virbhadra Singh. This has become more evident in the last one week,” he remarked.

Sharma refuted Virbhadra Singh’s allegations that the BJP was acting with political vendetta against him. “Had we been indulging in vendetta, we would have taken 16 days and not 16 months to get serious charges of corruption probed against Virbhadra Singh,” he remarked.

Sharma said the probe into cases being faced by the Chief Minister had started during the UPA regime and not after the BJP came to power at the Centre.
