Una, June 20

Family members of a youth, who succumbed to injuries received in group clash, have alleged police inaction in the case. Gurdial Singh, father of the deceased Ravinder Singh, today met SP Anupam Sharma and submitted a memorandum demanding the arrest of the accused Deepa of Dhatyal village.

In his police complaint, Gurdial Singh blamed Deepa, Sanjay Singh and his brother Sunil Singh for his son’s death. He said that though Sanjay had been arrested, Deepa was roaming freely, while Sunil’s whereabouts were unknown.

Superintendent of Police Anupam Sharma said a representation from the deceased’s family members had been received and a case under Section 302 of the IPC had been registered. He said investigation regarding the role of the third person would be initiated soon.

Ravinder Singh, a youth of Arniala village on the outskirts of Una city, was injured in group clash on June 11, at Kotla Khurd village. He succumbed to injuries at PGI, Chandigarh, yesterday. About half a dozen youth of Dhatyal and Arniala villages were reportedly involved in the clash, which took place due to personal rivalry.
