Deity culture to be promoted during fair: DC

MANDI: Mandi Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur said deity culture would be promoted during the week-long Shivratri fair, which will begin on February 15 in Mandi.

Mandi, February 13

Mandi Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur said deity culture would be promoted during the week-long Shivratri fair, which will begin on February 15 in Mandi.

He said the ‘kardar’ of deities would throw light on the deity culture. The motive was to apprise the present generation about the rich deity culture of the district.

“We are going to organise a photography competition and publish a souvenir on deity culture this year. We have decided to cut short the expenditure on cultural programme, in which huge amount of money was paid to Bollywood artists. This time we will spend more money to facilitate the deities coming to the fair,” he said.

He said CM Jai Ram Thakur would inaugurate the event and while the Governor would be the Chief Guest on the concluding ceremony.

He said the authority had decided to promote Himachali folk dance and culture and a special Himachali night would be organised on February 18.— TNS
