Depute patwaris for numbering of trees: HC

SHIMLA: The HP High Court today directed the Deputy Commissioner Shimla to depute halqa patwaris for enumeration of the trees on private land.

The HP High Court today directed the Deputy Commissioner Shimla to depute halqa patwaris for enumeration of the trees on private land.

The court further directed the Forest Department to file an affidavit on aerial survey of vegetative growth, including trees within the limits of the Shimla Municipal Corporation, and tagging of trees within the municipal limits with RFID tags.

The court also directed the respondents to file an affidavit on the recovery of cost incurred on enumeration of trees from the private land owners.

A division Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel passed the orders on public interest litigation on illegal felling of trees in Shimla city.
