Dharamsala, December 12
The Dhauladhars overlooking the Kangra valley received the first snow of the season today. The mountain ranges wore white mantle but snow eluded the hills stations of McLeodganj and Dharamkot.
Snow in the higher reaches brought down temperatures in the region. It has kindled hope of better tourist flow among the hotel and tourism industry.
Meanwhile, the Kangra valley experienced heavy rain in the last two days, bringing cheer to the farmers.
Farmers in Changer and lower regions were waiting for rain for the past two months. Now they will now start sowing wheat. The rain has also revived hopes of good crop among tea growers, agriculturists and horticulturists.
The rain and snow also brought relief to the Irrigation and Public Health authorities. Most of the water sources in the Kangra valley are also dependent on snow and rain on the Dhauladhars.
