Dismiss Cong govt: Dhumal

Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today demanded the dismissal of the Congress government, saying it had failed in maintaining law and order in the state.

Addressing a rally organised by the district unit of the BJP here, he said it was unfortunate that Himachal Pradesh, which was known for peace and harmony, had turned into a land of hooliganism and mafia raj.

He said the leaders of the Youth Congress (YC) had a tradition of indulging in hooliganism and they had attacked workers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in connivance with local authorities.

The former CM demanded a CBI inquiry into the whole issue and said truth should be brought before everyone.

He said a fair probe was not possible by the state police. Dhumal said BJYM workers had been mercilessly beaten up, leaving four seriously injured. He said one of the victims had lost his eye and another had suffered multiple fractures.

He said never in the state’s history had any political party attacked the office of a rival party. He said if the culprits were not brought to justice, the BJP would restore to democratic path.

Rally in Chamba

Chamba: Leaders and workers of the district unit of the BJP on Saturday took out a resentment rally in the main bazaars of Chamba town to register their protest. The rally was led by BJP MLAs BK Chauhan, Vikram Jaryal and Hans Raj and district president Dharmender Thakur. They shouted slogans against the Congress government. Later, addressing a rally, BJP leaders described the attack on the BJP office as an assault on the democracy system of the country. They submitted a memorandum to the Governor Through the DC demanding the dismissal of Congress government and strict legal action against the guilty.— OC
