Dy Speaker to take up tunnel issue with Gadkari

CHAMBA: Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Hans Raj on Thursday said he would take up the issue of the construction of the Holi-Utrala tunnel beneath the Jalsu Pass in Bharmour with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Hans Raj on Thursday said he would take up the issue of the construction of the Holi-Utrala tunnel beneath the Jalsu Pass in Bharmour with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

The Deputy Speaker said a delegation of local people would soon meet the Union minister in this regard. The tunnel would link the Bharmour region of Chamba district with Pathankot-Manali National Highway-20 and converge at Paprola in Kangra district. He said there was an immense tourism potential in Bharmour region. The construction of the tunnel would reduce the distance from Kangra district.

The Deputy Speaker said a master plan would be chalked out to develop eco-tourism and promote homestay culture in the region.

He said a meeting in this regard would be organised with officials of Bharmour and those related to the tourism sector. — OC
