The Regional Water Sports Centre (RWSC) on the Pong Dam Lake in Kangra district imparted a seven-day water sports and disaster management training to students of Sri Balaji College of Engineering and Technology, Jaipur.
Around 83 students took part in the training, which concluded today.
A team of five trained water sports instructors of the centre imparted training to the participants in swimming, kayaking, sailing, canoeing, water surfing and water safety-cum-rescue operation.
Camp leader-cum-director of the Camp India Adventure Club, an NGO, told The Tribune that the NGO had been conducting such training camps at the RWSC for the past many years. He said they had organised around 300 training camps in various adventure sports in the country.
He said four instructors of the NGO had also assisted the RWSC in imparting water sports skills to the participants.
Rakesh Kumar, in charge, RWSC, said the centre had been organising inter-university water sports competition every year and had imparted water sports training to officers and jawans of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Coastal Security Force.
