The Himachal Kisan Sabha (HKS) has demanded implementation of Swaminathan report to bail out the farmers from present crisis. Addressing a two-day seminar organised by the HKS, Rakesh Singha, general secretary of the organisation, said the struggle to get land for the small and marginal farmers would continue.
“Members of the HKS will march to Vidhan Sabha under the Gudia Nyay Manch on August 23 to highlight the state government’s failure to give justice to farmers and poor in the state”, he said. The High Court had directed the state to frame a policy for small farmers, but the Congress government had failed to do so.Satyavan Pundur, a member of the HKS, said though the vegetable production in the state had increased to 16 lakh MT there were no cold storage facilities in the state.
He demanded an MSP of Rs 30 per litre for milk and MSP for vegetables. — TNS
