FB threat to CM: Accused quizzed, no arrest so far

MANDI: The life threat to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Facebook has created an uproar.

The life threat to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Facebook has created an uproar. A case was registered yesterday. Police today interrogated the accused and were collecting evidence against him but no arrest has been made so far.

Yesterday Tek Singh, vice pradhan of Rod Panchayat, complained to the police that a member of Seraj Sangharsh Samiti had threatened to kill the Chief Minister and posted his motive on Facebook (Bhaiyon main mrna chahta hun or Jai Ram ko mar ke Jaunga – “I want to die and kill the CM”).

The Seraj Sangharsh Samiti was struggling hard to restore SDM office at Janjehli in Seraj Assembly Segment of Mandi district. The office was closed after the direction of the High Court. The High Court had directed the state government to cancel the notification of the SDM office at Jenjehli and Sub Tehsil at Chhatri, which were opened during the Congress regime. Ever since, there have been protests at Janjehli. The people of area were staging protests against the state government under the banner of Seraj Sangharsh Samiti.

SP Mandi Gurdev Chand Sharma said that the police were interrogating the accused and collecting evidence but no arrest had been made so far.
