The forensic evidence played a major role in the conviction of ISIS sympathiser Abid Khan, who was sentenced to five-year imprisonment by an NIA Court here last week.
Forensic experts verified that the equipment and material recovered from his possession was improvised explosive device which was used for making modern weapons like tiffin bomb, radio bomb and pipe bomb.
The examination and screening of the accused laptop and cellphone also established his ISIS connections as forensic experts detected a message “NIA mere piche lag gayi hai (NIA is after me) which was a vital evidence.
Abid Khan (23), hailing from Bangalore, had been residing in the Sinduwa area of Banjar in Kullu district for more than six months, posing as a missionary with fake name Paul C Neo when he was arrested by the NIA in December 16, 2016.
Fluent in six languages, Abid Khan had confessed that he was working as the sleeper cell of the ISIS and also shared important information with them.
