The Chandra-Bhaga Sangam Parv Samiti is seeking the financial support of the state government to organise Sangam Parv in Lahaul-Spiti.

The samiti has been organising the event for the last two years to promote the place for religious tourism, but this year, members are facing difficulty to bear the expenditure of the event because of the financial crunch.

Chander Mohan Prasheera, coordinator of the samiti, said, “We are struggling to promote Tandi Sangam as a religious tourist place where the Chandra and Bhaga meet. This place has equal importance for Hindus and Buddhists, who perform last rites of their dead kin here. For two years, we had organised this event with the support of the public, but this time, funds are quite less. Every year, Rs 10 lakh was spent approximately. Now, we are requesting the government to provide financial support for the purpose,” he said.

The event would be organised on June 12.

He said last year Union Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma attended the event, who had assured them that the Centre had approved Rs 250 crore to develop the Buddhist tourism circuit in parts of India, including Lahaul-Spiti.
