Dharamsala, July 1

The future of 250 students of Dharamsala Government College is uncertain as Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is yet to declare their results.

Priya, a student, said she wanted to enrol in a postgraduation course in Panjab University, but could not apply as the last date for submitting forms was July 3 and the result was still not out.

Another student said the HPU had claimed to have declared the sixth semester result under the Rashtriya Utkrisht Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). However, the result of many other subjects had not been declared, leaving the students on edge, he said.

Principal of Dharamsala Government College SK Pathak said the situation was chaotic as the sixth semester result had not been uploaded on the website while the results of the third and fourth semesters had not been declared.

The college had sent marksheets to the HPU and the authorities there were supposed to upload those. “I have sent a person from the college to the university. He will sort out the problem. Every effort is being made to help out the students,” he said.

RUSA was implemented by the HPU three years ago. Instead of the old system as per which the result lists were prepared manually, a new system was adopted, under which the marks were uploaded on the website.

To avoid delay, the university had decided that the papers would be checked at the college level and results would be uploaded by teachers. While some of the colleges have declared the results, the others have failed to do so due to staff shortage and absence of basic infrastructure.

This year, the first batch of students under RUSA is passing out. The students are facing many problems, While some are upset over the delay in declaration of results, the others are worried as universities outside the state are not accepting their subject combination.

The Lecturers Association of Himachal Government Colleges has been resenting the hasty implementation of RUSA.
