The state government is committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen, jawans and officers of the Army and paramilitary forces and freedom fighters and 15 per cent reservation for ex-servicemen and 2 per cent reservation for freedom fighters in government services are being provided by the state government.

HP State Forest Corporation Vice-Chairman Kewal Singh Pathania stated this while addressing a gathering at Government Primary School, Dadamb, yesterday. He was here to pay tributes to martyr Jaisi Ram of the Border Security Force (BSF) who had attained martyrdom in 1992 while defending the nation. Martyr Jaisi Ram had studied at the Dadamb Government Primary School where his martyrdom day was celebrated. Pathania said the state government was eager to make the masses aware of the history of the Army and other paramilitary forces and the contribution of personnel of the paramilitary forces. Their names should be mentioned at the war memorial in Dharamsala.

He said this would encourage the families of the martyrs of the paramilitary forces and would inspire the younger generation to join paramilitary forces. He said he would take up this matter with Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

He said Government Primary School would be named after martyr Jaisi Ram and he would urge the Chief Minister in this regard.

On this occasion, cultural programmes were presented and Pathaina gave the participants cash awards. Vineeta Devi, widow of martyr Jaisi Ram, and other dignitaries were present.
