Govt, SMC responsible for water crisis: BJP

SHIMLA: State BJP vice-president Roopa Sharma today hit out at the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the state government for irregular water supply to Kasumpati and Mehli.

Shimla, September 24

State BJP vice-president Roopa Sharma today hit out at the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the state government for irregular water supply to Kasumpati and Mehli.

Sharma said residents in these were being billed at commercial rates.

The SMC has miserably failed to ensure regular water supply to the areas. “Complaints of exorbitant bills have not been addressed. The SMC and the local MLA are responsible for the crisis,” she said. In a statement issued today, she said Mayor Sanjay Chauhan had assured the residents of regular supply, but the latter were not getting water even after five days. “If the situation is not improved, the BJP will be forced to launch an agitation,” Sharma warned.

Media head of the state BJP today said the development claims of the state government were false and that it was not with the poor people.

The stabbing of a youth in Una, attack on an Excise Department team at Amb and sexual exploitation of a five-year-old girl at Mehatpur have exposed the claims of the government that the law and order situation was good. — OC
