The Education Department has prepared guidelines and admission norms for the opening of Super-30 model schools which will have the latest hostel facilities for students as well as teachers, organic farms, a gymnasium and a library.

The department has prepared the guidelines for the holistic development of students so that these schools can compete with the best private schools. The proposal could be placed before the Cabinet at its meeting scheduled for Thursday. To ensure quality education, the cadre of teachers will also be separate and their children will be offered free education as an incentive.

To begin with, these schools will be set up in 61 Assembly segments, leaving out seven constituencies which have six Navodaya and one Eklavya school. Under the proposal, these schools will be set up on the land measuring 15 acres. Ten schools will be set up in the first year.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had announced the Mukhya Mantri Adarsh Vidya Yojna in the budget. A budgetary provision of Rs 25 crore has also been made for 10 such schools.

“We are ready with the blueprint for Super-30 schools where admission will be made on the first-come, first-served basis and there can be no entrance test for nursery kids,” said Arun Sharma, Secretary, Education. He added that the schools would have a dispensary with an in-house doctor, a gymnasium, library and all other facilities for imparting quality education.

Organic farming would be undertaken to meet the food requirement of students. As per the proposal, 50 students each would be admitted in two sections and as these students move on to the higher classes, new classes would be added.

MLAs offering own land

Keen to have a Super-30 model school in their Assembly segments in the first phase, MLAs are offering a huge chunk of land, including their own,  for the purpose. Chopal BJP legislator Balbir Verma has offered to give his land. Suresh Kashyap, Pachaad MLA from Sirmaur, has also identified 300 bighas so that his segment gets preference for this school.
