Mandi, February 23

The Meteorological Centre, Shimla, predicted more snowfall in the coming days and if it snowed, it would definitely give boost to the sluggish tourism industry of Kullu-Manali said Gajender Thakur, president of the Hotelier Association, Kullu-Manali. After the snowfall last week, hotel industry of Kullu-Manali gained momentum in the district as occupancy of rooms increased up to 45 per cent, which was earlier quite low up to five per cent.

After the New Year eve, the tourism industry of Kullu-Manali faced a sharp decline in the arrival of tourists in the region, as it did not snow at that time and mostly the tourists come here to see the snowfall.

Last week, there was snowfall in Manali and its nearby places like Solang Nullah and Gulaba, which attracted tourists for snow sports activity.

Weathermen have predicted snowfall in the next two days, which gives a ray of hope to the hoteliers that another snowfall would increase the footfall of tourists in the coming days.
