Shimla, August 17

Toeing the line of the government, HPU has also decided to abolish the personal interview for recruitment to class III and IV posts.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the Executive Council (EC) of the university which said the decision would be implemented with immediate effect. However, the decision would not apply to the posts for which advertisements had been issued and the process for selection had started.

The EC approved the recommendations of the selection committees, promoting three associate professors as professors under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS). The promoted professors include Dr Sonia Khan, Dr Anita Ganpati and Dr Jawahar Thakur.

The council also permitted non-government colleges, affiliated to the HPU, to retire the teachers on June 30 at the end of the academic session instead of March 31. It also granted regular affiliation to four postgraduate courses being run by Bhojia Dental College, Baddi (Solan), while returned two courses for review.

The recommendations, made by the Finance Committee (FC) at its meeting on August 4, were also given approval by the EC. These included relaxation in eligibility criteria for filling the non-teaching posts like additional controller of examination, planning and development officer, deputy registrar and assistant registrar.

The other recommendations of the FC for creation of 15 posts of peon, five posts of electrician and two posts each of mess helper and sewer man and relaxation in educational qualifications for appointments on compassionate grounds.
