Governor Acharya Devvrat has stressed the need for quality education based on moral values and added that good education is a blend of knowledge and moral values necessary for a good life. It is the responsibility of educational institutions to impart moral values and quality education to students for the country’s better future.
The Governor was speaking on the occasion of the prize distribution function of Dr Vijay Memorial Senior Secondary School, Dharampur, here today.
He lauded Sai Foundation for providing better infrastructure to students and undertaking social activities in the area. He said the growth of an individual depended on strong will and powerful thoughts developed over the years right from the school days.
“Virtuous students and reputed educational institutions were the pillars of development of a nation. A society based on moral values leads to the all-round growth of each member,” he remarked.
He urged social organisations to help poor and down-trodden people by providing them best education. He said equal opportunities should be given to everyone irrespective of gender, caste or creed. People should be involved in protecting the environment by creating awareness among them.
The Governor gave away prizes to meritorious students of various schools. He also distributed tool kits to the students passed out from the ITI.
Earlier, the Governor inaugurated a hostel building of Dr Vijay Memorial Sr Secondary School and laid the foundation stone of a building of Saraswati Vidya Mandir. He also inaugurated health and blood donation camps.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur and BJP MLA of Dharampur constituency Mahender Singh Thakur welcomed the Governor and thanked him for initiating various programmes like cleanliness, anti-drug campaign, value-based education, natural farming and cow rearing in the state. They also appreciated the contribution of Sai Foundation towards the social sector.
