Shimla, January 28
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said he was in no hurry to get the complaint about alleged properties owned by Leader of the Opposition PK Dhumal and his family probed by the CBI or any other agency.
“I am in no hurry and a decision will be taken at an appropriate time,” he said, while talking to mediapersons here. The BJP has been accusing the Chief Minister of unleashing political vendetta against his political opponents and implicating Dhumal and other party legislators in false and fabricated cases.
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered four cases against the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) headed by BJP MP Anurag Thakur and in another case, permission had been sought from the outgoing Governor Urmila Singh to prosecute Dhumal. A final decision against Dhumal, after Urmila Singh sent the file back, is awaited.
Virbhadra said the state government was contemplating putting in place a proper system for management and safety of Raghunath Temple in Kullu where priceless idol of Lord Raghunath, the chief deity of the Kullu Valley, and others had been stolen.
“We are keen that only a portion of the offering be given to the custodians of such temples and the rest be spent on having proper safety measures so that the priceless idols and artifacts are safe,” he remarked.
Virbhadra, who left for Delhi to campaign in favour of the Congress for the Assembly polls, said he would meet the central leadership about the system that the Niti Aayog would adopt about funding the states.
“I am of the firm opinion that there should be no deviation in the system followed by the Planning Commission in giving funds to the Himalayan states on the 90:10 ratio,” he said.
The Chief Minister said he was still not certain what would be the new system that the Niti Aayog would adopt but hoped that it would be sympathetic towards the needs of the hill states, whose requirement was different than that of other states.
