Shimla, July 6
The process of filling of posts of various coaches lying vacant for years has been started and the government will ensure the creation of an indoor sports complex in every district headquarters, said Transport, Forests, Youth Services and Sports Minister, Govind Singh Thakur here on Friday.
“We are amending the sports and youth policy of the state which was about 15 to 18 years old. Innovation program like Play Himachal will be included in the policy”, he said.
The minister said the department was making a separate policy for winter and adventure sports of the state under which for providing basic infrastructure and approval in principal had been received from the Central Government. Financial assistance in this regard would also be received from the Government of India soon.
“We are working on important schemes like setting up a sports university, a sports training centre, an indoor shooting range and a skiing slope in the state”, he said. The minister maintained that the wrestling show organised by the Great Khali was a success and brought thousands of people to the venue.
