Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said he is “proud of the honour” that all the top investigating agencies and tax authorities of the country were concentrating on him, leaving aside all important people from the corporate world and other fields.

“I have received a notice from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) but I have not read it myself. My lawyer will appear on my behalf and present the case,” he said talking to media persons here today. He said action by the CBI, ED and the Income Tax authorities against him is nothing but witch hunting.

Virbhadra said all the cases whether by the CBI, ED or the Income Tax pertain to one case of income tax returns for a specific period. “The appeal in the case is already pending before the Income Tax tribunal at Chandigarh and the CBI too has given its report which had been filed before the Delhi High Court,” he said. “So far as my conduct as a Union Minister is concerned, no criminality has been found.

To top it all not only has the CBI started a fresh investigation despite it filing its report before the Delhi Court in the same case but the ED has also now stepped in to probe the IT case,” he remarked.
