KANGRA: The Kangra valley was lashed by rain accompanied by high-velocity winds last night and this morning it rained intermittently and the skies remained overcast till late this afternoon.

Kangra, June 21

The Kangra valley was lashed by rain accompanied by high-velocity winds last night and this morning it rained intermittently and the skies remained overcast till late this afternoon.

It rained heavily during the night in the valley and today it rained intermittently plunging the temperature. Vehicles were seen moving with headlights on due to the overcast skies.

Kangra town experienced 30 mm rain during the last 24 hours whereas the hill town of Dharamsala experienced 51.4 mm rain. Life was thrown out of gear at many places. The maximum temperature dropped to 23.4 degrees C in Kangra and 24.8 degrees in Dharamsala. The minimum temperature in this town dropped to 18.8 degrees C and in Dharamsala it was 17.4 degrees C. The weatherman has forecast rain with thundershowers at many places tomorrow in the valley.

After the rain, the Manji, Manooni and Banner rivers, surrounding the valley, were swollen. Reports of rain were also received from Shahpur, Gaggal, Rait, Nagrota Bagwan, Dharamsala, Mallan, Chanumda, Jawalamukhi, Dehra, Ranital and other places. — OC
