Mandi, June 25
Fearing an outbreak of waterborne diseases in this rainy season, Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today directed the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Department to send samples taken from water tanks regularly for laboratory testing.
He was in town today to attend a meeting of district-level Grievances Redressal Committee. He cautioned officials of the IPH Department to take precautionary measures well in advance of the monsoon as the supply of contaminated water could result in an outbreak of waterborne diseases.
Perturbed over the setting up of roadside dhabas on the Mandi-Kullu national highway, the minister asked the district administration to remove them with immediate effect as these were the major reason for traffic chaos in the area. — TNS
