To accommodate tourist rush toward snow point in Kullu-Manali, the Kullu district administration has increased the number limit of tourists to around 300 toward Hamta Pass from Manali. Earlier, 200 vehicles were allowed for tourist activity toward Hamta Pass.
However, hoteliers of the district are urging the district administration to allow more vehicles toward Hamta Pass for tourist activity. This, they said, would not only reduce the burden of tourist rush at Rohtang Pass, but also become a popular tourist destination in the region in near future.
Gajender Thakur, president of Hotelier Association Kullu-Manali, said the district administration should increase the limit of tourist vehicle up to 1,000 as this would benefit the tourism industry.
He said that the road leading toward Hamta Pass is in bad condition, which requires immediate attention to maintain it for smooth traffic. He added that the district administration earned revenue from tourist vehicles, which should be spent on improving the condition of the road.
SDM, Manali ,Raman Gharsangi said, “To accommodate more tourist toward snow point in Kullu-Manali, we have enhanced the limit of tourist vehicles to around 300.”
