Make GST implementation smooth: Thakur

SHIMLA:Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur urged the Centre that changes in the GST rules and rate structure may be made either on quarterly or six monthly basis depending upon the situation and said the changes might be notified or made effective from the first of the month.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur urged the Centre that changes in the GST rules and rate structure may be made either on quarterly or six monthly basis depending upon the situation and said the changes might be notified or made effective from the first of the month.

Speaking during the 25th GST Council Meeting, presided by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today, he said problems of stakeholders should be attended on priority and added that MIS had not been made available on the GST portal to the implementing departments. Therefore, the detailed analysis of revenue receipts and taxpayers’ returns could not be carried out.

He said the best efforts would be made to implement the GST in smooth and effective manner. Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to the CM Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary, Excise and Taxation, Jagdish Chander Sharma, Commissioner, Excise and Taxation, R Selvam were also present.
