MANALI, MAY 8
The upper Manali region, including Rohtang, received a fresh spell of snow while the lower parts were lashed with rain, bringing down the mercury on Tuesday.
Marhi on the Manali-Rohtang road, which was opened to tourists, had also received snow.
A landslide near Jagatsukh village had blocked the Manali-Naggar-Kullu (left bank) road, posing a threat to the Jagatsukh bridge.
SDM Raman Gharsangi said the fall of the retaining wall had damaged the road near Jagatsukh. “Taking precautionary measures, we have stopped the movement of all vehicles. The work to rebuild the road will start from Wednesday,” he said.
He said the upper areas were receiving snow and the tourist movement beyond Gulaba would be allowed only after ensuring their safety.
Tourists would be sent to Marhi after getting green signal from the BRO.
