Himachal Pradesh's popular tourist destinations Shimla, Kinnaur and Manali received snowfall and rainfall on Friday, pushing down the temperatures by several notches.
The higher reaches of Manali were seen covered with thick blanket of snow. Meanwhile, the administration has closed Rohtang road.
Shimla and its nearby places like Kufri and Narkanda have been experiencing rainfall since morning.
Other parts of the state, including Nahan, Bilaspur, Solan too received rain on Friday.
"High-altitude areas of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla districts were having snowfall since Thursday evening," the Met Department said.
Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, recorded about one cm of snow, while it was two cm in Kalpa in Kinnaur district.
Shimla recorded a low of 4.3 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 0.7 degree in Keylong, 0.0 degree in Kalpa and 0.2 degrees Celsius in Manali.
The Met department's forecast said storms originating from Caspian Sea in the central Asia and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region would remain active till Saturday. —With IANS inputs
