Shimla, February 27
Himachal government-run Himachal Urban Development Agency (HIMUDA) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Singapore government at Singapore to build a modern township at Jathia Devi on the outskirts of Shimla. The township aims at decongesting the capital city.
According to an official release issued here today, HIMUDA signed the MoU at Singapore in the presence of Minister of Trade and Industry, Singapore, S Iswaran, Urban Development Minister Himachal Pradesh Sudhir Sharma, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore Jawed Ashraf and vice-chairman HIMUDA Yashwant Chajta.
Chief Engineer HIMUDA Umesh Sharma and Director, Singapore Corporation Enterprise, Kewin Chong signed the MoU on behalf of the Himachal and Singapore governments, respectively. Member, Parliament, Singapore Dr Lee Bee Wah was also present on the occasion.
Singapore is funding the project. HIMUDA has already acquired about 450 bighas of the land at Jathia Devi for the purpose.
