State convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajan Sushant said the NGT should stay its orders on capping of the commercial vehicles to Rohtang till the Central and state governments provide the CNG filling stations at Manali.
Addressing mediapersons here today, he stated that concrete steps should be taken to conserve the environment of such areas throughout the country as well, so that eco-friendly employment was generated and the visitors were also felicitated.
He charged that the state and the Centre had failed to represent the facts before the NGT and it was due to the dilly-dally approach of the government that such a situation had arisen. He added that the livelihood of taxi operators in Manali was at stake and even stakeholders of the tourism industry had been affected due to the orders of the NGT.
He said the district and block executive bodies of the party had been formed in 10 districts and 60 of the 68 Assembly constituencies of the state, while the task of framing bodies in the remaining regions would be accomplished by June 15.
He added that later bodies would be set up in 3,247 panchayats and then a statewide membership drive would be launched. A rally would be held on June 9 at Shimla where the problems faced by the masses would be raised and future course of action to resolve these would be chalked out.
