Nine tourist spots to be promoted

SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said the state Tourism Department would promote nine tourist circuits under the newly launched scheme ‘Nai Raahein Nai Manzilien’ for which Rs 50 crore had been earmarked this year.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday said the state Tourism Department would promote nine tourist circuits under the newly launched scheme ‘Nai Raahein Nai Manzilien’ for which Rs 50 crore had been earmarked this year.

Presiding over the review meeting of the Tourism Department, Thakur said ‘Nai Raahein Nai Manzilien’ scheme aimed at promoting unexplored and untapped tourist places in the countryside for the diversification of tourism, especially to rural areas. He said these circuits are Jogindernagar-Barot-Kothi, Kohar-Rajgungja-Bir-Billing, Sundernagar-Chail Chowk-Kamru Nag-Shikari Devi-Janjheli, Shimla-Khara Pathar-Rohru-Sandasu-Larot-Chanshal-Dodra Kwar, Dhauladhar Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Bhakra-Bilaspur-Sundernagar-Jogindernagar-Pong Dam, Solan-Habban-Rajgarh-Shillai, Manali-Rohtang-Tandi-Udaipur-Killar and Narkanda-Baghi-Khadrala-Chini (Kalpa)-Pangi Circuit.

He said a committee of tourism, PWD, forests, language, art and culture officials would visit the selected circuits and propose activities to be undertaken after consulting local panchayats. — TNS
