Solan, November 8

More trouble was in store for the Baddi Municipal Committee (MC) where five councillors expressed no confidence in the working of the president Madan Chawdhary two days after they had moved a no confidence against the vice president.

Terming his style of functioning as biased and unsatisfactory, the aggrieved councillors said Chawdhary had lost the right to occupy this post as five of the nine councillors had expressed no confidence in him.

The aggrieved councillors are Narinder Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Maya Devi, Nirmala Devi and Sushma. A letter conveying their no confidence was presented to the Deputy Commissioner by the councillors at Solan today.

The development comes two days after a no confidence motion was moved by these councillors against the Congress supported vice president Monika.

Since the incumbent president Madan Chawdhary is the brother of former Doon MLA Ramkumar Chawdhary , the development has come as major blow to the Congress in this constituency.

The Chawdhary family has held the post of the president of the Baddi MC for the last 18 years. Though efforts had been made to prevail upon the disgruntled councillors by Madan Chawdhary these have failed to yield any result.

While the BJP is gradually gaining control of the local bodies in the district, the infighting in the Congress was snatching away even those bodies where they were strongly entrenched. The development would does not augur well for the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls. After Arki Block development Committee this was the second such body where BJP was gradually making its way.

Deputy Commissioner Solan Vinod Kumar said a letter signed by five of the nine councillors from Baddi stating no confidence in the president has been received and it will be forwarded to SDM Nalagarh for further action.
