Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday launched three schemes — the Jan Manch, Mukhya Mantri Swavlamban Yojana and Grihini Suvidha Yojana — for the welfare of people.

While the Jan Manch scheme is meant for the redressal of public grievances, the Mukhya Mantri Swavlamban Yojana is aimed at providing assistance to the youth for self-employment ventures and the Himachal Grahini Suvidha Yojana is for environment conservation by providing gas cylinder security and stoves to women, who are not covered under the Ujjwala Yojana launched by the Government of India.

The CM said the schemes launched on the completion of four years of the Union Government were bound to bring a remarkable change in the lives of the people.

He said the Jan Manch would go a long way in prompt redressal of public grievances. “The programme will not only ensure that the schemes launched for the welfare of the people are completed well in time, but also ensure that the desired results are achieved,” he said.

The programme would be organised in every constituency, particularly in the remotest areas, on the first Sunday of every month. He said ministers and MLAs would ensure their presence at the meetings, along with the officers of every department.

The CM said under the Mukhya Mantri Swavlamban Yojana, the youth between the age group of 18 and 35 would be provided 25 per cent investment subsidy for the purchase of machines.

He said under the Himachal Grahini Suvidha Yojana, the women would be provided a package of Rs 3,500, which would include a gas cylinder and a gas stove. He said with this, the state would become the first one where every household would have a smoke-free kitchen.

Former Chief Minister PK Dhumal said the present government was not only fulfilling its promises, but also going a step ahead by launching several schemes. He also appreciated the endeavour of the government for initiating 30 new schemes for the people.
