Considering Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to Himachal as his “second home” due to his association with the state as BJP in charge, the Budget has come as a major disappointment as no major project, especially in the tourism and horticulture sectors, have come its way. The lone mention of AIIMS being set up in the state, along with five other states, is also an old announcement, which has merely been reflected in the Budget. Bilaspur has already been chosen as the site for the new AIIMS. Land has also been identified for the institute. With Modi having made lofty promises to people during election rallies, people had hoped he would be more sympathetic towards the state as he is familiar with the problems faced by its people. — Pratibha Chauhan and Ambika Sharma
It is a completely disappointing and disheartening Budget, which only talks of tall promises and commitments without keeping in mind the expectations of the common man. We were hoping for some big project, like declaring the Tabo Monastery as a heritage site and funds for its promotion as a tourist site. But I am grateful that the earlier announcement of AIIMS for Bilaspur has been included in the Budget.
