Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly PK Dhumal today said the state government headed by Chief Minister Virbhdra Singh was pushing public interest and development projects to the backburner. Dhumal said the Opposition would corner the government during the coming budget session for its failures during the last three years.

Dhumal was addressing media persons at Dehra today. He said before the commencement of the budget session, the BJP legislature group will hold a meeting to chalk out a strategy. Public interest and development issues will mainly be raised in the Assembly.

Regarding the boycott of the MLAs priority meeting with the Chief Minister by BJP MLAs from Kangra district, Dhumal said the issue was being politicalised. Public representatives were being humiliated because their priorities were ignored during the last three years. Hence, boycotting the meeting was a better option.

About the jaundice outbreak in Shimla and Solan, Dhumal said the action taken was not sufficient. Non-serious attitude of the government towards the problem was making people suffer.

He alleged that because of the political vendetta Virbhdra Singh was deliberately creating hurdles in the establishment of the central university in Kangra district. Dhumal said a Central government team in 2010 had visited the state thrice and the then BJP state government showed it the district from Jassure to Baijnath and suggested any appropriate site for the CUHP should be selected. The team identified and selected 62.54 hectares of land at Dharamsala and 317.97 hectares of land at Dehra.

Leader of the Opposition said selected land at Dehra had already received NOC from the forest and environment departments. He said that nearly 900 kanals of land at Dehra were transferred to the education department. With these facts people can now understand who was creating hurdles in the establishment of the CUHP.

Ravinder Singh Ravi, MLA, Dehra, and former minister Parveen Sharma were among others present.
