Over 1.25 lakh pay obeisance at Bajjreshwari Temple

KANGRA: Nearly 30,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Bajjreshwari Temple here today on the concluding day of the Chaitra Navratras, coinciding with Ram Navami.

Nearly 30,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Bajjreshwari Temple here today on the concluding day of the Chaitra Navratras, coinciding with Ram Navami. With this, the total number of pilgrims who visited the shrine during the festival has reached about 1.25 lakh. Lakhs of devotees visited the Chamunda Devi shrine and Jawalamukhi during Navratras in this district.

Devotees thronged the Bajjreshwari Temple in the wee hours today and long queues were witnessed during the day.

Aditya Negi, SDM, Kangra, said Sat Chandi Mahayagya, which started on the first Navratra in the temple, culminated today with “pooran ahooti”, which was offered by Sudhir Sharma, Urban Development Minister. He said pilgrims from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir visited the Bajjreshwari Temple, one of the 52 Shakti Peeths, during the Chaitra Navratras.

Negi said during the last seven days of the Navratras, a sum of Rs 20.74 lakh had been collected as part of the offerings by devotees at the temple, besides 19 gm gold and 5 kg of silver.

Heavy footfall in Chamba temples
Chamba: Rama Navami (birthday of Lord Rama), one of the most important Hindu festivals, was celebrated with fervour to mark the end of the nine-day Chaitra-Navaratra celebrations across the district. At Sita-Ram temples of Bangotu and Kharura temples of Chamba town, all nine days of the Navratras saw a heavy footfall of devotees. It was marked by continuous recitals of Akhand Path, mostly of the Ramacharitmanas, with the distribution of prasad after the prayers.— OC

Thousands pay obeisance at Bhalei Mata temple
Dalhousie: Thousands of devotees thronged the Bhadrakali Bhalei Mata Temple at a time when the shrine has a special significance on Ram Navami. Temple Managing Committee chairperson Kamal Thakur said special arrangements had been made. He said the website of the committee would be launched soon. "It will provide daily updates on the activities of the temple committee," Kamal said. — OC

Devta Mela concludes
Sundernagar: The five-day traditional Devta Mela concluded here today. Health, Revenue and Law Minister Kaul Singh Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion. As per the tradition, the chief guest performed puja at the historical Mahamaya Temple (temple of the royal family) and then led a procession of hill "deities" to the palace of the royal family, where prayers were held.— OC
