The Nohradhar police on Thursday arrested panchayat secretary Som Prakash for raping a 19-year-old pregnant woman at Gavahi panchayat.
DSP Babita Rana said the woman, who hailed from Kufer Kahri village, had gone to the panchayat office on Wednesday for enlisting herself in the below poverty line category. There, Prakash coaxed her to establish physical relations with him. She refused and left for home. But the accused raped her on the way. The woman filed a complaint with the Nohradhar police on Wednesday and a case under Section 376 of the IPC was registered against the panchayat secretary. He was arrested by ASI Mohan Singh, who traced him about 5 to 6 km away from his house. The accused is in his mid-40s and hails from Lanacheta panchayat.
