Union Minister of State (Independent charge) for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik laid the foundation stone of panchkarma and yoga health centre to be set up at a cost of Rs 12.18 crore at Pandoh today.

With the establishment of this institution, people of the neighbouring districts of Kullu and Bilaspur would also benefited.

Addressing a gathering, he said the health institution would be equipped with modern medical facilities, including operation theatre for performing anoractor surgery with kshrasutra under Ayurveda medical treatment for piles patients.

As many as 11 panchkarma huts would be established, besides a yoga centre. A 50-bed hospital would be established to improve health tourism in the state on the lines of Kerala. He said a mini pharmacy would also be established, besides a herbarium, to preserve the high-altitude plants of medicinal purpose.

State Ayurveda Minister Karan Singh urged the minister to approve the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Himachal Pradesh and also demanded an Ayurveda college at Bajaura in Kullu.

Mandi MP Ramswaroop Sharma and Rural Development Minister Anil Sharma also urged the Union minister to consider the demand of the state government to open an NIA in the state as the Centre was mulling to to open five NIAs in the country.
