The Congress today announced that it will issue a White Paper on development works undertaken by the state government before the Assembly polls. However, it maintained that it would also undertake comparative analysis of the performance of the previous BJP regime in its tenure.

Addressing a press conference here today, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) general secretary Naresh Chauhan claimed that the Congress was more than willing to issue a white paper as the party had fulfilled 90 per cent of the promises made in their election manifesto at the time of 2012 Assembly polls.

He claimed that the BJP had no issues and they were trying to divert the attention of the public by preparing a charge-sheet which had all baseless allegations against the government.

“It seems that for Leader of Opposition PK Dhumal, there is no other issue except unemployment allowance and he feels that all promises in the election manifesto from number one to 100 are only on this allowance,” he said.

Chauhan also criticised Dhumal for making “undemocratic statements” that Assembly elections could be held in the state anytime. “It is not appropriate for a former CM to make such irresponsible statements as the electorate has given the mandate for full five year to the Congress,” he said.

He also demanded that both Shanta Kumar and Dhumal, who had lauded the demonetisation move, should elaborate before the public as to how people had benefitted from the move which had “ultimately hit the common man”. He said the Congress would hold a protest outside the RBI Office on January 23 against the demonetisation move.
