MC poll: BJP releases list of party-supported candidates

The Sadar unit of the BJP today released the list of party-supported candidates for the Municipal Council elections.

In a statement issued here today, Sadar block president Deepak Guleria said the party-supported candidates for the MC elections include Vimla Mehra from Khaliar Ward No.1, Harinder Singh from Old Mandi Ward No. 2, Vandana from Suhada Ward No. 4, Suman Thakur from Palace-2 Ward No. 5, Kishori Lal from Lower Samkhetar Ward No. 6, Ashutosh Pal from Upper Samkhetar Ward No. 7, Vidhya Devi from Darmayana-I Ward No. 8, Nirmala Sharma from Darmayana-II Ward No. 9, Anjana from Thanera-II Ward No. 11 and Darpana Thakur from Paddal Ward No. 13.

Guleria said the list of candidates for the remaining wards would be released soon.

Panchayat poll: 47 file nomination papers

Mandi: As many as 47 candidates filed their nomination papers for the Urban Bodies Elections in the district.

Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kadam said the elections would be held for Mandi, Sundernagar and Nerchowk municipal councils (MC) and Sarkaghat, Rewalsar, Karsog and Jogindernagar nagar panchayats in the district on January 10. He said 47 candidates had filed their nomination papers on the first day yesterday.

He said 10 candidates filed the nominations for 13 wards of Mandi MC, 18 filed papers for 13 wards in Sundernagar and five for 11 wards in Nerchowk.

Simranjit Kaur, Neha Kumari, Nand Kumar, Subhash Chand, Shiv Kumar, Mahesh Kumar, Anjana, Sukhnidhan Singh, Harivinder Singh and Yograj filed papers for the Mandi Municipal Council.

Budhi Singh, Chand Kumar, Sita Ram, Devender Kumar, Sailja, Poonam, Gauri Ram, Praveen Kumar, Akash Sen, Deepak Sen, Sohan Lal, Aruna Kumari, Kora Devi, Rajan Saini, Ashwani Saini, Raksha Devi, Kavita Babbar and Pushpa Devi filed their nomination papers for the Sundernagar municipal council.

5,477 candidates to contest poll in Chamba

Chamba: As many as 5,477 candidates are in the fray for the PRI elections. About 106 candidates are contesting from 16 zila parishad wards, 506 from 106 panchayat samiti wards, 962 for posts of pradhan, 1,094 for up-pradhan posts and 2,809 for ward member posts.

To supervise the election process, seven sector magistrates and 34 sector officers have been deployed. As many as 2,670 polling officials and 1,030 police and Home Guards personnel have been put on duty.
