Poll defeat: Kangra BJP seeks expulsion of eight leaders

KANGRA: Following the defeat of BJP candidate Sanjay Chaudhary from the Kangra Assembly segment in the recent poll, the local BJP mandal has advised the party high command to expel eight prominent party leaders for anti-party activities during the elections.

Following the defeat of BJP candidate Sanjay Chaudhary from the Kangra Assembly segment in the recent poll, the local BJP mandal has advised the party high command to expel eight prominent party leaders for anti-party activities during the elections.

Those eight BJP leaders were former BJP Kangra district president Hind Vir Kohli, State OBC Morcha chief Uttam Chaudhary, State BJP IT Cell organiser Virender Chaudhary, who is the son of former Minister Vidya Sagar, Kangra district BJP general secretary Rakesh Chaudhary, former BDC chairman Kulbash Chaudhary, Pawana Chaudhary, Virinder Papu and Captain Ramesh Chaudhary. All of them had been holding key posts in the party.

Uttam Chaudhary alleged that they there were 96 polling booths out of which the BJP was leading with a minor margin at 24 booths and the remaining 72 booths which were looked after by the members of the BJP mandal also experienced a setback. He said they had been staunch supporters of the BJP for the last few decades and had been sincerely working for the party. When asked that these eight BJP leaders belonged to the Shanta or Dhumal faction, Uttam Chaudhary said they were loyal workers of the BJP.

Sanjay Chaudhary, who lost the recent poll, said during the recent BJP mandal meeting, the cause of the recent defeat was analysed and the booth in-charges pointed out that the defeat was due to infighting and anti-party activities of these leaders. He alleged that the BJP high command was already aware of these activities as they were working against the party since 2003.

Infighting the main reason
