Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said posting of teachers on deputation in other schools will be cancelled immediately so that they can be posted in government schools in the field where there is shortage.

The issue was raised during the question hour in the Assembly today by Govind Ram (BJP). He pointed out that while almost eight to 10 teachers had been adjusted and posted on deputation at their choice place of posting, studies of children in other schools was suffering due to vacancies.

Leader of Opposition PK Dhumal said a large number of teachers had got adjusted in offices orhad sought deputation, leaving the schools in the rural areas without teachers.

“I fully agree with Leader of Opposition on the issue. Immediately after the Assembly today, I will ask Principal Secretary (Education) to cancel the deputation posting of all such teachers. They will have to go back to their place of posting and if the post has been filled, they will be posted elsewhere in the field,” said Virbhadra. He said the government would appoint Inspectors and Deputy Inspectors in all the districts who will check schools any time.

There are 57 JBT teachers, 10 trained graduate teachers and two craft and vocational teachers in Shimla district who are currently on deputation.

Replying to a question by Randhir Sharma (BJP) on the action taken against industrial plot holders who had failed to set up industry, Industry Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced that all such plot allotments, whose project had failed to come up even after five years, would be cancelled. Sharma said that in many cases residential complexes had come up.

Giving details, Agnihotri said till date 2,992 industrial plots had been given and industries had come up on 2,374. “While 176 allotments have been cancelled, in 55 cases the matter was pending in courts. As many as 50 plots are still lying vacant,” he said. He added that 86 plot owners had been issued notices while in 176 cases efforts are being made to have the units started.

Nurpur MLA Ajay Mahajan raised the issue of allotment of 35 plots to one unit, which the minister said will be looked into. Sharma also sought details of a plot in Jwali which had been given on rent.

Replying to another question on the setting of the Rs 39 crore bio-technology park at Aduwal in Nalagarh by Krishan Lal Thakur (BJP), the industry minister clarified that the project had been delayed as no investor had evinced interest.

“Neither is there land available nor has the Rs 9 crore share from the Centre come so far,” he remarked. He urged BJP members to pursue the matter with the BJP regime in the Centre.

Transport Minister GS Bali, while replying to a query by Kuldeep Kumar and Asha Kumari on starting Volvo bus service, said five pilgrim centres would soon get the facility and there was also a proposal to start 50 AC deluxe buses within the state.
