Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, convener of the pensioner association Chander Singh Mandyal said a state-level general conference of the HP State Electricity Board Pensioner's Forum had been proposed to be held on May 27 in Mandi. "We have invited state leaders and representatives of pensioners and family pension holders to chalk out a strategy to resolve our long-pending issues with the state government," he said. TNS

Kangra man duped of Rs 90,000

Kangra: A resident of Nandrool village on the outskirts of the town was deprived of Rs 90,000 by a youth by exchanging his ATM card and withdrawing cash from ATMs in Kangra and Una districts, police said here on Tuesday. Subdivisional Police Officer, Kangra, Surinder Sharma said Daryayi Lal of Nandrool village was using a bank ATM in the town on May 12 last. When he failed to get the cash a youth supported by another offered him help and during the process exchanged his ATM. The youths took out Rs 90,000 through three different ATMs with the help of the exchanged ATM card. No arrests have been made as yet. OC

Kangra: Congress leader Kewal Singh Pathania on Tuesday alleged that the Centre was victimising CM Virbhadra Singh for vested political interests. Addressing a gathering in Dulyar village of Shahpur Assembly segment, Pathania alleged the Centre was trying to tarnish the image of the CM by fabricating false cases against him. He claimed that people of the state supported the CM and voted him into power for the sixth time. He also inaugurated hand pumps in the area. OC
